Samba Percussion Ensemble
The Samba Percussion Ensemble is made up of 25 students from Grade’s 5 & 6 who are committed and passionate towards developing their musical ability. The band evolved in 2006 with a traditional Samba sound. The rhythms of 2006 have since been slightly altered with the addition of a new line up of students and instruments. The band produces a very unique style and sound that is created by using a combination of traditional Brazilian instruments together with found objects. The music is composed by the students together with their band leader and music teacher Caroline Le Sueur. The ensemble has been invited to perform at many major events and venues such as Westside Arts at Hamer Hall, Brimbank Festival, Make Poverty History Festival, Luxor Reception Centre, Bunnings Warehouse, Highpoint Shopping, Watergardens and Keilor Centro Plaza along with many other school based events. The group performed at the Schools Expo Night and put on a wonderful show. We look forward to seeing the new and exciting ideas and repetoire the ensemble puts together in 2009.
